CPR Classes

MCRRC is pleased to offer a monthly CPR/ First Aid certification course through Lifeworks, sponsored by Shady Grove Adventist HealthCare, for members and member’s immediate family members. The class is sufficient for new certifications as well as re-certifications. The $50 class fee is reimbursable for all active MCRRC Program Coaches and Race Directors. The class is $50 for any other MCRRC member/immediate family member.

Schedule *** ALL CLASSES START AT 8 AM AND SHOULD END BY 1 PM *** Please note that, depending on the makeup of the participants, the class may go longer at the instructor’s discretion. Please plan accordingly.

2023 CLASS DATES AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION (see below for 2022 information)

For 2023, registration will be processed directly through Adventist using this link: AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course | Adventist HealthCare | Rockville, MD. Look under “Alternative Dates Available” to find the date you want. Registration is open now. EACH person needs to register separately if using the discount code.

During registration, use discount code MCRRC75 to bring the fee down to $50. This discount code is for MCRRC members and member’s immediate family members ONLY.

Changes or cancellations will be handled by Adventist directly, not by MCRRC. Refunds are available through Adventist. They prefer at least 24 hours’ notice for changes or cancellations. Contact Adventist at LifeSupport@adventisthealthcare.com

If you are a current coach or program director and want to be reimbursed for the $50 fee, MCRRC will email you an expense reimbursement form after the class. Fill it in and return it as instructed on the form and we will get your reimbursement to you.

  • This is a medical facility. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, all attendees must wear a facemask covering both nose and mouth, and be prepared to do so for the duration of the class.
  • Attendees are permitted to bring drinks, lunch or snacks to class – please don’t bring anything that needs to be refrigerated (use an ice pack) or heated up.  There are vending machines in the hallway, but they can be unpredictable.
  • Please plan to dispose of, or take any trash with you at the end of class.
  • Class begins with CPR at 8 AM with First Aid in the afternoon. Class will end by 1 PM.
  • Each class is limited to only 8 MCRRC attendees.

The classes will be from 8:00 AM TO 1:00 PM with a half hour break for lunch.

You will receive instructions by e-mail. Please note they may not be sent until the Friday before the class.


There will be a half hour break for lunch. Please bring a bagged lunch.  Refreshments will NOT be provided, so please be sure to pack anything you will need for the day.

Payment & Reimbursement:

Everyone must register & pay in advance for the class via our online signup form.  The cost of the class is $50 + online service fees. IF YOU ARE AN MCRRC COACH OR RACE DIRECTOR, you are eligible for reimbursement. Upon completion of the class, you may submit an expense report to office@mcrrc.org. PLEASE NOTE: MCRRC will reimburse the $50 of the cost of the class only. We are unable to reimburse for online processing fees. Please allow up to three (3) weeks for processing. Download the expense voucher form here.


Registration is available online ONLY.  Each class is limited to 8 participants. We are unfortunately unable to accept a higher number of participants per class.

Coaching Policy:
All MCRRC program directors and pace/ group coaches are required to be CPR AND First Aid certified in order to participate as a coach. The MCRRC Program policy regarding coaching requirements can be found here.

Refund Policy:

If a class is cancelled by Lifeworks, we will do our very best to notify you in a timely manner.  At that time, we will be happy to assist you with rescheduling to another class.  Likewise, if you are unable to make it to the class you signed up for, we must receive notice by 3 PM on the Wednesday before the class to office@mcrrc.org – again, we will be happy to assist you with rescheduling to another class.

If you are a “no show” on class day, we are unable to refund your registration fee & you will be responsible for paying a new registration fee should you want to schedule another class.  Sorry, but there are no exceptions. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please Note

A CURRENT MCRRC MEMBERSHIP is REQUIRED to participate in this program. Please note that membership is NOT included in your program registration. PRIOR TO JOINING this program, you must become a member. If you are unsure if you have a CURRENT MCRRC Membership, please contact office@mcrrc.org for assistance. Communication Methods
We will use a private, online group to facilitate communications. Everyone will be required to join this group to participate in the program. Instructions on how to join this group will be provided by the Program Director.

The program director reserves the right in his sole discretion to refuse admission to the program or dismiss any individual from the program whom the program director believes is unsuited for running the specified distance or is unable to meet the demands of the training schedule, or is disruptive to other program participants. Those individuals will be denied entry into the program or dismissed from the program as appropriate. The program director also reserves the right to limit the number of participants in the overall program or in individual pace groups. MCRRC has a No Refund policy. Program registration fees cannot be refunded due to injury, schedule conflict or any other reason.
