Runner Safety (Run Aware)

MCRRC Races

Pets are prohibited at all MCRRC races, including track, paved trails, and natural trail races. The use of headphones or earbuds is strongly discouraged, while strollers may be permitted under very limited circumstances. When appropriate, Race Directors may permit the use of strollers – please refer to the individual race web page, FAQ’s, or consult with the Race Director regarding the specific policy for that race. Any participant running with a stroller must start separately from other participants, in the back of the starting corral. Participants running with strollers may not use headphones or ear buds and must obey the instructions of race officials at all times. Failure to adhere to these requirements during an MCRRC race constitutes a potential hazard and compromises the safe conduct of the race. Whenever feasible, the Race Director may disqualify participants in violation of this policy.

MCRRC Training Programs

Strollers and pets are prohibited at all training program workouts, including track, paved trails, and natural trails. The use of headphones or earbuds is strongly discouraged while engaged in a training program workout. The Program Director has discretion in identifying potential safety hazards and taking appropriate action, although the MCRRC Board of Directors suggests consulting with the MCRRC Executive Director before any sanctions are imposed.

MCRRC Drop-In Runs

Pets are prohibited at all MCRRC Drop-In Runs, including track, paved trails, and natural trails. The use of headphones or earbuds is strongly discouraged while engaged in any MCRRC workout. Strollers may be permitted by exception only if they are appropriate for the workout setting and do not pose a safety issue. This exception may only be made by the Workout Coordinator. The Workout Coordinator has discretion in identifying potential safety hazards and taking appropriate action, although the Board of Directors suggests consulting with the Executive Director before any sanctions are imposed.
