On Your Mark, Get Set……
GO!
Race your way through MCRRC’s BUSY month of May!
First up this weekend, is one just for the kids! Bring them out to Bohrer Park for our annual Kids on the Run on Saturday the 13th! This fun event features a distance for even the littlest runner – choose from 100m, 1/2 mile or 1 mile & be sure to stick around to see the kids marathon finish! Register online through Friday or show up early & signup race morning! All ages & abilities welcome.
Then, the very next morning, keep your eyes and ears open as you RUN AWARE through trails at Cabin John Regional Park, a cross-country challenge for all of your senses. You’ll travel on hills, run near streams, and enjoy the sights in the early spring. Our 5K starts at 8 AM, followed by our Junior Participation 1K, five minutes later. Not a club member? (you should really consider it…..) Avoid long lines on race day & register online through Friday @ noon! This one is FREE for MCRRC Members.
Spend a few days off your feet before gearing up for the Germantown 5 Miler on May 20th, which runs around Seneca Meadows Corporate Center! This family-friendly event includes a 5 mile race, a two mile family fun run, and the Sports Plus 1K kids run. An important part of the kids run is that it will incorporate kids from the Sports Plus running program. The beneficiary for the race is SPORTS PLUS a Montgomery County Maryland based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Online registration ends Friday afternoon, the 19th, but race day registration is available. All participants will receive a sharply designed technical shirt.
Finally, wrap up the month with a Memorial Day favorite — our Memorial 4 Miler, featuring one of the more infamous uphill finishes of all our low-key races. Race time is 8:00 AM with the 1-mile kids run starting 5 minutes later. Registration is race morning only & is FREE for MCRRC Members! Challenge yourself before heading off to your Memorial Day BBQ’s.
Feel like taking the month off? All of these events are brought to you only by our dedicated volunteers. Consider giving of your time to support the running community. SSL hours are available. Please visit our website to volunteer.
