SUMMARY:Kemp Mill Run
DESCRIPTION:Time: 5:30 am every Thursday \nPlace: Kemp Mill Shopping Center \nContact: Paul Dever and Sherene Sepehri runkempmill@gmail.com \nOverview: This early morning run is a great workout through the neighborhood in the Kemp Mill area of Silver Spring. We meet near the Sligo trailhead\, behind the bank and in front of the grocery store in the Kemp Mill Shopping Center lot. The route changes every week and is announced on Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. We always have options for a 3-mile or a 6-mile route.  \nThis is a hilly area\, so runs are for strength\, not speed. All paces are welcome. This workout is also great prep for MCRRC’s Kemp Mill (C)hills 5K/10K race. \nThe inclement weather cancellation policy follows MCPS announcements. If schools are delayed or closed\, the run in cancelled. We recommend bringing a headlamp and reflective gear during the winter months. \nThe group has a communication forum on Google Groups. The communication forum will be used in the event of workout cancellations\, location changes\, or time changes\, so it’s highly recommended that all interested parties join the forum. The route changes every week and is usually announced on Tuesdays.

The group meets in the parking lot in Fallsgrove shopping plaza in front of Panera. The group leaves at 5:30 am sharp. The Millennium Trail is just over 10 miles\, though some participants do a shorter out-and-back rather than completing the entire loop. All paces are welcome\, but since the majority of regular participants are running an 8-9 min/mile pace\, if you want to run a different pace\, consider inviting a friend who runs at your pace. We also recommend bringing a headlamp and reflective gear during the winter months. The group ranges between 10–30 people depending on the season. \nThe group has a communication forum on the WhatsApp text chat. Anyone can join. The communication forum will be used in the event of workout cancellations\, location changes\, or time changes\, so it’s highly recommended that all interested parties join the forum.
